Guides for Shopify merchants.
Straight answers with the steps and the sources: product video, fraud and bots, and the product data EU rules ask for.
Product video
- How to add a video to a Shopify product page
Open the product in your Shopify admin, go to its Media section and either upload the video file or choose Select existing, then Add from URL, to embed a YouTube or Vimeo video.
- Product video ad sizes for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Shopify
Make product ads vertical, 9:16.
Bot & fraud protection
- How to stop card testing on Shopify
Card testing is when someone runs automated scripts that make many small payment attempts to find out which stolen cards work.
- How to stop fake customer accounts and spam sign-ups on Shopify
Make sure hCaptcha is on in Online Store > Preferences, since it protects customer account, contact and newsletter forms and is on by default.
EU product compliance
- GPSR for Shopify stores: the EU responsible person and what your product pages must show
Since 13 December 2024, the EU's General Product Safety Regulation, Regulation (EU) 2023/988, requires every online offer of a consumer product to the EU to show the manufacturer's name, postal and electronic address; the EU responsible person's details if the manufacturer is outside the EU; information identifying the product, including a picture; and any warnings or safety information.
- EU product identifiers, HS codes and country of origin: getting Shopify products ready for EU customs
From 1 November 2026, EU customs declarations for e-commerce imports must carry product identifiers for each item: your own product code, the manufacturer's code and, where one exists, a standard barcode such as a GTIN.
